Saving Their Ocean Homes
The ocean needs our help, and plastic presents a threat that we can make a choice to reduce our reliance on plastics. The characters in this story help your child understand the importance of protecting our oceans. Requesting the use of plastic-free alternatives will model for our children that we want to help the ocean heal. We can explain to our children and demonstrate our commitment by purchasing products that avoid harming the ocean’s delicate ecosystem. Removing trash and not leaving anything behind is an action children can learn to do from a very young age. Teaching your child to respect the ocean and all its living beings, talking with them about ways to protect our ocean, and making simple lifestyle changes that model responsible choices that care for our ocean will help ensure that the ocean will be here for future generations that share all of the ocean’s resources. Steens Mountain Wildies
In the high desert of the Southeastern part of the state of Oregon, USA is the Steens Mountain area that is home to Kiger and mixed breed wild horses. This is one of the few areas in the United States where these majestic animals still roam free. This beautiful wilderness area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and no one man can own this land; thus, the apostrophe has been dropped from the name. The Indian people who inhabited the land before the Calvary came considered this area to be a sacred mountain. Today, wild horses reside in Steens Mountain, and they are a wondrous site to see.

Alphabet Soup For Life
We teach our preschoolers the alphabet as a precursor to reading, but why not also use this experience to teach your child about values? Clare E. Steffen, Ed.D., ND has selected positive words that can become teaching moments with your child and can be used to discuss meaningful concepts. Helping your child integrate values as you clarify their meaning through discussion can set the stage for life-long bonding, communication, and understanding. Using the structure of the alphabet can be a familiar and helpful place to start making these connections with your child. The alphabet is a set of basic standard letters that represent our spoken word. Teaching your child positive words that begin with each letter will assist them in making a connection to positive thinking, and memories of learning with you. This book was written at a third-grade reading level and can be read by an older sibling or parent with a preschool-age child. What Do I Do Next?
Developing critical thinking skills that guide us when faced with important life decisions is crucial. Helping our children have the confidence they need to make healthy life choices, and teaching them how to ask intelligent questions when they seek answers is an important part of parenting. When children have the emotional support they need to develop cognitive strengths, they thrive. This little story illustrates the process that the character, Liam goes through to develop his confidence surrounding his ability to trust he can make healthy life decisions. He gathers support from his family, and he consults with a wise wisdom bearer. He set out on his journey with his dog, Timon to seek advice and he returns to his family who lovingly awaits his return. Letting our children know that we support self-exploration, and will be there to guide them can help them build the confidence they need for life questions. Knowing how to gather information increases their intelligence, and is a necessary like skill. Share this book with your child and engage in an open discussion about their ability to ask questions when they wonder, ‘What Do I Do Next?” Click on the link underneath the image to go directly to Amazon to purchase a copy of this book.
